About me!
Hi! I’m Wendy Scarbrough. I am a homeschooling mom of 4 and grandma to two. I am an artist who has spent the past few years on a journey of discovery. From hand-lettering to water coloring to acrylic painting, I have loved this wondrous process. I would love for you to join me on this journey as I continue to grow and develop as an artist. Check out my blog where I talk about my life and my journey. My Collector’s Club newsletter will keep you in the loop for any specials, new art, or future collections.
I am available for commissions.
All of my prints are reproductions of my original artwork. I use various papers, canvases, paints, and techniques. I am so glad you are here!
Artist Statement
Creating gives me a sense of peace. It gives me an outlet for my feelings. I had struggled to express myself in the past, but I’ve found that creating art allows me to do so.
I began my creative journey by learning hand lettering. Even with having small children, I found it relaxing and easy to use my iPad and practice various styles. My next step on my journey was to try watercolor. I love flowers and watercolor allowed me to create beautiful florals.
After exploring watercolor and florals I started to use acrylic paints. I began with landscapes and worked with some more abstract florals. While I enjoyed creating these paintings, I felt like something was missing and I wasn’t truly expressing myself. In the last year I have ventured into more and more abstract styles. I find the adventure of what comes out in each painting to be both exciting and disappointing. I can struggle when things do not turn out how I pictured them. I am still learning how to get the effects that I want and to create in a consistent way. Abstract is not simply splashing some paint around. You must give of yourself, and you must do it in a way that is expressive and meaningful to others.
I am still learning and hope to find a true sense of expression. I love so many creative expressions and, in the past, have hopped from one to another, never really giving something real focus or a real chance. Recently I have found myself committing to the abstract style and I am enjoying the process so much more. I am excited to see where this takes me!
