Chocolate Mousse Recipe

I double the recipe in the picture

I made chocolate mousse this week for the family. We love this recipe that I found on allrecipe.com. I went searching for it and it is no longer on there. But thankfully I saved it. I have modified it a little bit so I will include those here for you as well. This always gets rave reviews. Hope you enjoy.

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces of semisweet chocolate (I use dark or bittersweet usually) chopped or chips

  • 1/2 cup water, divided

  • 2 Tablespoons of butter

  • 3 egg yolks

  • 2 Tablespoons sugar (I use maple syrup)

  • 1 1/4 cups whipping cream, whipped to a firm but not too stiff consistency

First, melt the chocolate chips, butter and 1/4 cup of water in the microwave. Stirring after 20-30 secs until it is blended smooth. Cool for about 10 minutes. Next, whisk the eggs, sugar (maple syrup) and the other 1/4 cup of water. Whisk the chocolate and egg mixtures together in a medium to a large bowl. Fold in the whipped cream. You can spoon right into serving bowls or just put the whole batch into the fridge for a few hours. Keeps for a few days, if you aren't in my house, lol. It never makes it that long.

My mousse usually has some white in it cuz I don't want to over fold and flatten my whipped cream. But it all takes great anyway.
